About the team
Bactory srl was founded in February 2017 as spin-off of the University of Verona and it is currently incubated in the Department of Biotechnology. The company was born as a business intuition of a group of young researchers in order to put their knowledge and experience in the microbial biotechnology field to good use, developing innovative microbial-derived products exploitable for several industrial and environmental applications.
Is specialized in the bioremediation of hydrocarbon contaminated soils exploiting different microorganisms, as well as in the study of microbial communities applicable for industrial bioprocesses. Additionally, he gained both expertise and experience as technical consultant for drinking water supply working in cooperation and development projects on behalf of international NGOs and ONLUS.
Is a Researcher Scientist in Microbiology at the Department of Biotechnology of the University of Verona. During her ten-year research activity she gained proven experience in the study of both microbial processes for the transformation of organic and inorganic compounds and the biosynthesis of nano- or micro-metal materials. She is also an expert in the microbial bioremediation of environmental matrices contaminated by hydrocarbons and heavy metals.
Is skilled in the study and application of soil microorganisms promoting the plant growth (PGP), rhizobia able to fix atmospheric nitrogen, and mycorrhizal fungi. She is also highly qualified for the bioremediation of environmental matrices contaminated by heavy metals and metalloids through the use of either plants or microorganisms.
Has developed remarkable skills in materials science, being specialized in the production of metal-based nanomaterials and the study of their chemical-physical properties. She has also gained experience in the development of nanomaterials suitable for biomedical and electronic applications, as well as various other industrial fields (e.g., textile industry).
Was trained at the Environmental Microbiology Laboratory of the University of Verona, and he subsequently obtained a specialization in the detection of micro-pollutants in various environmental matrices (water, soil, sludge, sediments). He gained considerable expertise in mass spectrometry, HPLC and chromatographic techniques working as a chemical analyst.
Is a Full Professor of Agricultural Microbiology at the Department of Biotechnology of the University of Verona. He has a strong knowledge in several microbiology areas, such as the exploitation of microorganisms ability to degrade toxic compounds in order to biologically remediate polluted environmental matrices, the mechanisms regulating soil-plant-microorganism interactions, and the microbial reactions related to the biostabilization of fermentable organic matrices (composting).
Has worked for companies of international corporations, covering top management positions: his interests are focused on processes of change, management control, strategic planning and resources management. Since 2009 he has been working as a consultant, particularly as advisor and temporary manager for organizational transformation projects and implementation of governance systems, corporate crises, development processes, startups.
Has worked in primary organizations (IBM, Citibank, Banca Intesa) in the development of IT applications and innovative organizational solutions. He has successfully conducted important projects for the companies he worked for, deserving the trust of the entities involved (top management, collaborators and users), as well as the appreciation of the market. He subsequently discovered the desire to pass on his experience to other motivated people assisting small innovative companies and startups.
